Concrete block come in several different sizes, the most commonly used is 8" block. Its actual dimensions are
7 5/8" wide by 7 5/8" high by 15 5/8" long. This allows for a 3/8" mortar joint. So 8" block are generally recognized as 8"x8"x16". There are also 4",6",10" and 12" block. The only dimension that changes is the width the height and length remain the same.
