i want to install a new front door, but i don't
want to take off all the moulding/trim i put on
the front--

are all doors hinged at a set distance(can i just
unhinge new door(pre-framed) and attach it to
existing hinges

or, can i install new door from inside the house,
so i don't have to remove trim, etc?

thanks, mike

In answer to your first question, NO, all doors are not hinged at a set distance. It varies from one mfgr. to the next. Chances of your new door fitting directly into the old jamb are just about zero.

It's possible to install a pre-hung door without removing the outside trim, but you would sure be making life tough on yourself to do it that way. Much easier to put the shims in if you can push one from the outside and one from the inside. Trying to put them both in from just one side is awkward at best.
