i had new carpet installed in the basement and I have shortened all the doors so that they open correctly. However, there is 1 door that recedes inside the wall and I can't get it opened. Any idea on how to adjust these? I tried to pull it out a bit but it is not budging. I'm not sure what these type of doors are called...dividing doors? trap doors?
Thanks very much!

Pocket door. Without being able to pull it open, it will be more difficult to take care of, but it IS doable.

Carefully remove the casing and jambs on the side the door slips into. You should be able to get hold of the door and lift it enough to get it to slide out (close). Once you have it closed, swing the bottom of the door so you can remove it from it's track. Good luck.

(This one should have been done BEFORE the carpet was installed. Shame on the installers for not pointing that out to you. They should have known better.)

Thanks very much for your help! Now I know what the pocket doors are called. If I had know what they were called I could have searched for topics on them. We did exactly how you told us and removed 1/2" off the bottom and re-installed. Put a little silicon spray on the rail and works beautifully. Thanks again!
