Hi all,

I'm looking at putting in a couple of Venting Skylights in my living room and was wondering if anyone could reccomend a brand, or what to look for or watch out for when selecting a skylight. The Velux seems to have what I'm looking for at a reasonable price but I have no experience with the brand.

P.S. I will be installing it myself.

Thanks Perrin

Velux has been around for many years. Have never dealt with their product, so I can't comment on it's quality.

Things to look for in a skylite are a thermally broken frame, and at least double glazing. If these lites are on a sun side of the house (east, west or south), get them with opaique (white) glass.

When installing it, MAKE SURE you flash it properly and completely, and use roofing cement as needed to reseal the roof. You don't want to have a roof leak, and done properly, you won't.
