We have back2back brick fireplaces. We plan to have the "backs" removed, create a see-thru firebox and convert it to LP gas.
Plan to tile over the brick hearth,(build a wood leg mantel)and tile INSIDE the firebox (stucco over the bricks, then tile with "thin coat" cement)
Do we need a special grade of tile or cement for inside the fireplace to stand up to the heat? Any suggestions or cautions?

Hello
Not sure how they are built should check on structual problems venting, LP can have some venting problems and is not a great fire place fuel take all the oxigen out of the air, is heavier tha air and will stay on the floor in the house and build up...not recomended....Good Luck
