Whenever I need a ball peen hammer I grab one that I've had for years. I can't read any mfg name on it but it does have "Perfect Handle" stamped on it. Any ideas on the possible history of the mfg? I also have acquired and old bit brace carrying the Craftman name on the METAL handle, no model # shown anywhere. Anyone have an old Sears Catalogue around to help me guage the age of it?

If you contact the History Factory at http://www.historyfactory.com and ask about their Sears archives, they can probably help.

I contacted them about my 1960 Craftsman rollaway toolbox. They were able to tell me what year it was from and even sent me a copy of the old catalog ad from '60. Wow :)

My combination cost 90 dollars new. I probably paid 100 bucks for it with buying it (50 bucks) restoring materials/parts (another 50), and the same combination from Sears or Home Depot today is probably 300 bucks or more. Not to mention, my oldie has ball bearing drawers on the bottom. Today's cabinets are slide drawers. If you want ball bearing on them, you're up over the 500 dollar range.

Old tools rule. I have a lot of older Craftsman stuff I bought from an estate sale, from my uncle and from my dad.

Sears/Craftsman especially if old is always top notch stuff. Still is for the most part. Warranty is unbeatable.
