View Full Version : converting from natural gas to LP

Hi,

We bought a used gas dryer (Whirlpool LG5791XMW) which we need to convert to LP (installed by Suburban Propane).

I have to wait up to 10 days for Suburban to order a conversion kit, but I'd like to get this done sooner than later. Can conversion kits be purchased and installed by a homeowner, or does a professional have to do it?

Whirlpool's web site didn't have any useful info on ordering a conversion kit or doing a conversion.

Thanks,
Ed

Hello Ed and Welcome to the Do It Yourself Web Site and my Gas Appliance forum.

The answers to your questions are in the postings within the last 5 days. Several posting asking to convert from propane but the answer is buying the conversion kit at your local appliance parts store.

Can you install it? If your reasonably handy, have some small hand tools, read the instructions and have patients to do the task EXACTLY as stated in the instructions plus READ my prior posting regarding safety....sure...you can do it...:)

Plenty of information can be found in the archives of this forum. Much of the information is for converting to propane but the rules still apply.

If your not sure you want to tackle this task, 10 days isn't too long to wait for safety and avoid stress.

Regards & Good Luck
