Hi - I have an older house with central air, but I do not know the age of the system. When I went to turn it on Monday afternoon, air was moving through the ducts, but it did not get cool. I went to check the outside unit and saw that the fan was not moving. I replaced the 3-way capacitor today, but still have no movement or sounds from the outside unit. I have a "fix-it" book that suggested checking the motor leads with a volt/ohm meter. The book stated that the leads should test between 2 and 30 ohms (at RX 1), but my leads tested at 35 and 50. Also, my digital thermostat, which I do not have the manual for, is not working properly. It has always been very user friendly in the past, but as of this week, I can only set the day, date, and time. I can not view or set any of the programs or see the actual temperature. I have checked the breakers and all is fine there. I need to know if I should replace the motor or if there is anything else I need to check before I call in the professionals. Thanks for the help.

to outside unit and blower.Remove tstat, take red, green and yellow wires.Twist them together.Turn power on and see what happens.Fan should start, and a/c should start.Give us a holler back.OH,YES,digital tstats. If you go back for months in this forum it is more than likely the "DIGITAL TSTAT" that causes so much trouble.PDF
