As I walked past our Carrier heat pump I noticed the fan blades were moving very slowly and small sparks flying from the bottom of the fuse box attached to the house from the unit. What could be happening?

to fuse box.Not at fuse box but at the power supply that feeds fuse box.It will probably have to be replaced. Most likely cause'''loose screws in fuse box''',which means you should back track and check breaker terminals also.BE CAREFUL,we are talking 220 volts!!!!!!!!!!!PDF

Thanks. We turned off main power source and looked at fuse box. There are blackish marks (like electric burns) inside fuse box. What would cause this? Are we over our heads?
