I have a Carrier Model CK5BXA060024AAAA in a brand new home I purchased about 14 months ago. The A/C stopped cooling Friday and was only blowing air continuously. The service man has said that there was almost no freon and upon further inspection in the attic, says the evaporator coil is leaking and needs to be completely replaced. I know Carrier, as well as the builder, only warrant this for 1 year. My question is, what type of life span should an evaporator coil have? Wouldn't it be unusual to have to have this replaced on a unit that is only 14 months old? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

GO DIRECTLY TO A CARRIER WEB SITE OR USE LANDLINE.TELL THEM YOU WANT THIS SITUATION RESOLVED "IMMEDIATELY"....Ask for a factory rep to take a look at system.Carrier is top of the line.If they do not supply you with satisfaction the BBB and others should be involved.Something seems amiss here.PLEASE keep us updated. The coil should last 10 years with proper maintenance.PDF
