I have central air. One of the lines coming into the basement from the condensing unit has water dripping from it. The aluminum casing aroung the evaporator coil is also wet (sweating). The house is not cooling. Filter is new, evaporator coil was replaced in the last six months. I've called for a service technician. What kind of repairs, and estimated cost can I expect. Do I have a refrigerant leak?

Hmmmm....

If you said you saw ice forming on the larger of the two refrigerant lines, I'd lean towards freezing up. Otherwise, I'd almost be inclined to look for an overcharged system.

I would say that the installer that put in that new coil probably needs to trouble shoot his work.
