HELP HELP HELP!!!!!!!!! How can I keep birds and other pests from eating my strawberries when they start to ripen?? I have tried cheese cloth...to no avail..they peck through it or lift it up!! I have also set out jars of water in hopes their reflection scares them off!! I want to eat them ya know.....LOL Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!!!!!!

I've never heard of the jars of water trick before. Maybe they think their twin arrived.
Bird netting, found just about anywhere, worked for me. They get their feet tangled in it. Others have tried plastic owls, snakes, and even belts - thinking the birds will think they are snakes. You have to keep moving them around because the birds sense something is wrong and aren't afraid of something that is stationary.
I agree! Strawberries are not for the birds! If it's a new patch, you'll be surprised. Next year you'll have plenty to share with the birds too.

Many thanks for your tip!! We went to Wally World(Wal-Mart) and found meshing called Bird K and we put it over our berries as directed, then set out back and watched for a hour! NO bird could get in.....YUMMY YUM!!!!! Get to eat our berries this year!! Many thanks!!!!!!.......Nikki
