I have a 1993 35'' RCA Home Theatre TV.
It has completely lost power. I've tried
all the usual things; other outlets, leave it
off for a while etc to no avail. Is there anything
else I can check before having to call the shop?
Thanks,
Chris

Good Afternoon, Chris:
Again, we know you checked the batteries in the remote control and also tried turning the set on manually. And, you've tried other outlets.
Time to get the back off the set and check for internal fusing. Most of these sets have a fuse accessible when the back is removed. If it is blown, however, the next concern is the question of why it failed. Had any lightning storms or such recently? Do you have surge protection on the unit?
The obvious approach is to replace the fuse and see what happens. If it blows again then it is time to get into the electronics and find the short circuit. First place to look in that instance is the power supply, itself. RCA has been a problem for years about shorted diodes in the power supply.
That's the best I can do from this end. Come back if you
have other questions.

I have the same TV and have had the same sort of problem. My problem was that the cat puked on the top of the tv and it ran down inside the case. my set would pop and crackle when i turned it on then it eventually stopped comming on at all. i had a service guy out and he cleaned it up for me and said that there is like a panic system that will shut the power off to the set. he had to re-set that panic button to get it working again. my cat has gotten up there again and i'm going to attemt to clean the set out tonight. it's starting to pop and crackle and shut off again. if i find the button, i'll post tomorrow exactly where it is.

Good Afternoon, Jimmy B.:
Have you considered taking the cat to the vet and saving yourself all these electronic problems. Take it from an old cat lover, having one puke in your television set is not a normal circumstance. LOL

Thanks for the advice Smokey. He's just an old, long-haired (sortta like me) who has occasional hair-ball problems (again, sortta like me). he's smoked my tv once, my PC monitors a couple of times and even my keaboard once. he's sortta like "bill the cat." Let's just say i've learned to cover up the expensive electronics around the house.
