The exterior of our house (trim and windows) recently received one coat of what is called low-luster satin paint. A second coat needs to be applied but I do not like the low-luster satin look. The salesman talked me into getting a low-luster satin paint. He said there would be very little sheen, but I have to differ. On a sunny day, it's just too shiny. I would like to apply a flat paint of the same color as the second coat. Can I reasonable do this, and if so, what do I need to do ahead of time to prep for the coat of flat paint?
Thank you.

I have found that if the finish is not too glossy, one could make sure the painted surface is clean and then paint over it. If the paint that you purchased is supposed to have a low lustre satin finish, then it certainly would not have a high gloss so the finish should accept another finish without making it more 'dull' looking.
