I have a 3 yr old 27" Sony Trinition TV. Used to work fine, only starting last week it's dead. The TV doesn't turn on at all, no matter what power socket you use.
I called Sony support and they asked me to unplug the TV for few hours and turn it on, so that the TV would reset by itself. But that didn't work ....
I don't have much knowledge on where to look for, to fix it. Did any of you experience this kind of problem ? What did you do to fix it ?
Any input on this is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
m.k.

Good Afternoon, mkanumaru:
Always interested in these handles you folks have. This one seems Hawaiian and Japanese. How far did I miss it?
I assume you have taken note that the batteries are good in the remote control and have taken the time to try to start the set manually. I know you have done this but always feel obligated to mention it.
Good old Sony! Their stock answer is to unplug it and wait a day or so.
Yes, there is an electronic circuit breaker in the system and you have to turn the set off to reset it. But, if nothing is happening then the back has to come off the set and a serious check has to be made to determine the cause. I cannot give you any "quick fix" without performing the diagnostics on the set. My first check would be to go to the power supply. Sony uses a "boot strap" power supply that relies on other functions the set happening before the system supplies power. I also know that their power supply has an occassional problem with a couple high value resistors burning out (1 megohm = 1 million ohms). This may have been the failure you are encountering.
Either way, I can't advise you from this thread. The set needs to be on the bench and troubleshooting the circuits has to happen. My bet is the boot strap circuit failed and some components have to be changed in the power supply.
