Just had new tub faucet installed by plumber. About
week later, noticed leak in kitchen ceiling and traced it
to the round plate behind the faucet. Plumber said whoever
installed the plumbing made the hole in the tub the same size as the round disk behind the faucet when it should be
only large enough to accommodate the faucet.
Are there any fiberglass kits available to patch a hole? Can I purchase a piece of the material and cut it to fit
the large hole?
Any tips would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Kathy D,
Over here you can get some epoxy resin called milliput .Its 2 different types of putty mix them in equal amounts losen the nut on the back of your tap and push this putty in tighten the nut back up and it will set in 3 hour and seals perfect .I,m sure they sell similar stuff over there at plumbers and diy shops.

Kathy D Yes there are kits , and most wholesale plumbing supply house have someone that does repairs for them. Also it would be nice to know what kind of faucet you had installed, because Delta Faucet company makes a plate that covers a hole when you convert. I have used this plate on other brands. I have seen this plate at hardware stores , Lowe's for and others. good luck John

Thanks for the tip. The faucet is not delta, but it appears to be the same size as the delta tub faucet in the other
bathroom. I'll check at Lowes. Maybe someone there will know what this is.
I'm beginning to think I should find another plumber.

Kathy D - I will try to get you the Delta part number tommoro, If it is a single handle or two handle faucet it will work. It was designed to be able to replace a two or three handle valve with a single handle valve and cover the extra holes left by the old valve. I'm sure it will work. John in Fl. PS - If you can't get it I can get you one and have it mailed to you.
