Did you put anything possibly magnetic near the set?
If so, it has been magnetised, and needs degaussed.
Turning it on an off a few times should do it.

Good Morning, tru33g:
As Gary stated, it is possible that something came in proximity of the picture tube that had a large magnetic field such as a vacuum cleaner, electric clock, or such. As such, it magnetized the corner area of the picture tube.
The one I always love is when the kids discover that Mom's refrigerator magnets make funny colors on the screen.
The set has automatic demagnetizing (degaussing)circuitry
which activates briefly during the period when the picture tube is warming up at first turn on. Thus, you never see it in operation. What Gary told you about turning the set on an off is almost true. The circuit will only operate when the set is turned on from a COLD startup. So, you need to let the set sit OFF for about twenty minutes between each turn on.
There are alternatives. Scroll down the list of problems on this forum to problem titled SONY TRINITRON 20". This person had a similar problem and we dealt with it in greater depth.
There are other ways this could happen but these are the most common. If none of this works, come back to this thread and we will deal with it in a little deeper detail.
