I would like to make my walls look like a really old spanish style cottage :} I was told I could do this by mixing large pieces of hay or straw with plaster compound or drywall compound and simply spread it on with my hands. The point is to leave the pieces of straw visible and create a bumpy/natural/earthy look. Any ideas at all? I am completely unsure of how to do this! thanks so much! seachickie

Thats what I wanted to do to my walls but was voted down because of resale value. Well I don't know about that but I did see this done several years ago by Lynette Jennings on the Discovery channel. You might try getting on their web site or try HomeDepot web site (she is their spokes person right now). It looked real easy as I remember, just as you discribed, but to be sure check out their web sites. If they don't have the info available upfront, you might be able to emailing Lynette c/o HomeDepot.
