I purchased a Hitachi television 2 years ago. About 3 months after purchasing it fell forward when my tv stand broke. The tube remained fine but the plastic case cracked slightly. After this occurred, the tv color was mixed up for several hours but then worked again without a problem. The colors were similar to the time I had my non-shielded speakers too close to the television. A few months ago I moved some furniture around and now the television faces a new direction. Everytime I turn it on, the colors become distorted again. However, if I change the direction the television is facing or its location in the room, the color problems clear up. Any ideas on my problems? I was thinking some sort of magnetic problem but my tv does not have a built in degausser, so I can't tell.

Good Afternoon, gj555:
Just off the top of my head, I would say that you cracked a circuit board or jarred a circuit board enough that it is losing ground. When you move it just right, the ground is making contact.
Probably most of this can be cured by taking off the back of the set and resoldering the grounds. This won't cure the cracked case but will, most likely, fix the operational problems.
Yours is simple. I just moved a 27" Sony from one residence to another and they managed to drop it. My picture tube is broken. I can buy a tube, replace it, and set up the set like new....but, (for a change) it is the other guy's problem. Heh Heh Heh. As a professional, I am real interested to see how the problem is going to be resolved and how may fantasy stories I am going to hear.
