There are paint products available for painting bath tubs. From a long-term durability standpoint in a high-use tub, I have read that these are not effective. Perhaps someone can recommend a particular product with which they have had some success.

Do not waste your time painting the tub! {I am speaking from experience}
The paint does not adhere properly and is a dirt magnet! I went to a home show this weekend and found several companies who can refinish the tub{s} for a few hundred bucks.

What the difference between refinishing and repainting is I guess depends on the materials and methods used. You could try

The refinishing of tubs with the DIY systems doesn't seem to hold up very well even with the best attention to detail. The pros material seems to stay on well but is not what you ask for in that it is very expensive to have done. It is so expensive in fact that given I would do all myself on a tub change except plumbing I would be better off to find a used cast iron tub in good shape and change it rather run the risk of the paint coming off....Mike
