I have a Goldstar TV that i purchased in the military 7 years ago. I don't know the model #, But it is dual voltage. It has a round European plug in whioch i have an American adapter to fit 110 sockets. Last week i was watching tv and the tv just went out. The power indicator on the bottom of the set shows it is getting power, but when i turn it on it turns itself off. The red standby power indicator is always on. How can i fix my problem myself or advise what i should do. Thank you
Smokey

Good Morning, jburnie:
Welcome to DoItYourself.com
The Goldstar is of Korean manufacture and I have noted some problems with power supplies in their equipment over the years.
Chances are that the set is internally fused and can be either a glass fuse or a fuse resistor. The failure appears to be a failure from an internally generated short circuit or, perhaps, a triggered line voltage surge.
Probably the best effort at this point is to remove the back and see what is available. Fortunately, they have been good about putting fuses in prominent areas so you don't have to look too hard to find them.
Also, some of the fuses found in these sets are what appears an odd size. You can find these fuses at most electronic stores (such as Radio Shack) for a fair price.
As always, it is recommended to replace the fuse with a like or similar voltage and current. Since the set is dual voltage, the fuse may be a 220 volt unit. The values are usually imprinted on the unit but you may need a magnifying glass to read it.
