Hi, We have a corner fireplace in our living room, it's fairly small, has a beautiful black marble hearth. The fireplace itself is painted white brick. We would like to cover the brick somehow, perhaps with a man-made stone product. Can we cement directly on to the bricks? How do we go about this and do you have any suggestions for good products out there? Not real expensive, please! Thanks Kheat

You might want to post this over in the Ceramic Tile forum or go to http://www.johnbridge.com and post on John's board.
Good Luck!

All you need to do is tack up some wire mesh with small concrete nails over the brick. From ther you can parge mortar over the wire and stick cultured stone right to the fireplace. Cultured stone are very light and will lay easily. Stone and mesh are available at any brick yard. Stop in to veiw some samples! Good luck

hey Kheat!

did you decide on what are you going to do yet. I have the same problem.
Can’t decide what to put over that ugly brick. Was thinking of marble tile, but afraid it will look cheap, stucco is ok if it’s the right color but eventually probably crack.
Have you gotten any more suggestions?
Thanks
