Good afternoon, hibred20:

A quick question: does the line run top to bottom on the screen or does it run left to right? Believe it or not, this a good question.

Citizen TV? Where in this vast world are you located?

Good Morning, hibred20:

I'll give it my best efforts.

Again, does the line run from top to bottom on the picture or does it run left to right?

Good Afternoon, hibred20:

Man, when you get old, things just go over your head now and then. And, too, I rolled out of bed and jumped into things without completely waking up, I guess.

Left to right is electrical interference. Look for an electric motor, a fluorescent light, or some such thing that is arcing. Seldom is this generated within the TV set. It comes in through the AC line and is generated through the set's power supply. Try using an extension cord and plugging the set in at a different AC outlet in the house.

Had it been top to bottom, that is called a snivet. It is generated within the set from a high voltage arc somewhere inside the set.
