I have been searching for a beveled glass storm door in midnight or dark navy blue for a while now with no luck. Would it be possible to buy the white and paint it the color I need and have it look great? If so how would I go about it? I don't have a sprayer or anything like that but I am sure I would need one to get the professional look I want right? Thanks for any advice on this that anyone can offer! sky

skyler999, This is what I think I would if you are willing to buy, rent or borrow the tools. First you need a small compressor that will hold 80-90 lbs. at the line. A decent cup gun (expect to pay at least $100.00) is a must for a good job. I like Debilvis. Start with a bronze door so if ever scratched it won't show so badly. Sand with 220 grit sandpaper and make sure you remove any hinge grease and the dust with paint thinner. Try not to touch the door much after final wiping because oils from your hands causes fisheye. Prime with lacquer primer and sand when dry(10 minutes) with 320 grit most often had at a body shop supply house. Topcoat with lacquer made to the color you want. In case you miss this lacquers are thinned 1 to 1 with lacquer thinner. Sherwin-Willaims has a satin lacquer that would be very nice on a storm door. A method that is easier on the pocket would be to use lacquer spray paints but the bond will not be what it will with the real thing. Auto Zone has a line called Plasti-Kote that are as fine a spray paint as you will find. Yu may also look into whether Sherwin-Willaims has the color you want in their SuperAcrylic line. This is also some fine spray paint. Do use the lacquer primer under all of these....Mike

Mike, I just wanted to thank you for your reply and for the great instructions you gave. I am very excited that this is even possible as I had given up hope in finding a door to accent my home. Thanks again, sky
