Hi
I'm applying Ralph Lauren Metallic paint. I put on the first coat Saturday and it looked to cover well so the customer asked me to wait a day before applying a second coat as she thought one would look good. She called today to say that 24 hours later it looks thin and the roller marks are more obvious. I used a proffesional series 1/4" roller from Sherwin Williams and poured only enough paint into the pan that I could use in five minutes before I would mix the paint and pour more. As this is the first time with metallic I am wondering if a second coat applied the same as I would with other types of paint will produce a quality finish, and if not, could someone please offer some advice to technique for applying metallic paint. Also I am wondering if four days between coats is going to be a factor?
Thank You

StephenS, A second coat should do the trick. The Lauren paints do look great wet but tend to dry showing less than full coverage. The four day wait should not be a factor. What I do when working with these materials is have a flat latex primer or paint made that is very close to the metallic. It will cover in two light coats everytime...Mike
