Some of the exterior corners in our house are cracking and some are crumbling. It looks like there is a wood dowel covered by joint compound acting as the exterior corner. How can I repair these? Can I put some sort of corner tape over the existing corner and cover it with 3 layers of joint compound?

Thanks,
E

that wood dowel is probably plastic.the company i worked for tryed those new corner beads for a while and we are still going back to replace them with the old metal ones
think if i were you i would tear the outside corners off run down to local lumber yard or wherever buy the metal corner bead and redo.probably another way to do it but at least you know this one works and will last good luck
