Good Morning, David:
I imagine you will get some different answers on this question because all the techs have their favorites. But, from a technician standpoint, I always go with the ones that have the best electronics and fewer failures. From this shop, look for Sony, Mitsubishi, or Sharp. Avoid RCA,
Zenith, and Panasonic. Some excellent choices in Sharp's line up.

I recently bought a Toshiba 36" from Best Buy for $850 and am completely satisfied (so far). Consumer Reports lists Toshiba high among the 36 inchers. Smokey...you didn't mention Toshiba; any opinion?

Good Morning, jonre:
Toshiba makes a fine television set and am glad you are happy with it.
On the other side of the line, the Technician standpoint, I have had nothing but grief with Toshiba over the years for support of their products. When you call asking for parts or diagrams, they pretend not to understand you. If you get a little hot under the collar, they all start speaking Japanese.
That's just my opinion, though. Enjoy the set. It is a good one.
