i am in the process of laying tile in a bathroom. would it be better to lay the tile under the vanity base and toilet so that they sit on the tile, or, should i install the vanity base and toilet and tile around them? i am not worried about the extra tile being used if i tile under the two, i just want to know which is better.

Most folks install the whole floor, then reset the toilet and vanity base. Make sure you use at least 1/4" concrete board underneath your tile, quality thinset, and sanded floor grout. If you plan on sealing grout, make sure you wait at least a couple weeks to let it cure.
