I have read your installation instructions and the only question I have is regarding the starting point for laying strip flooring. You state that you should measure out about 30+" from the most visible long wall and snap a chalkline parallel to that wall, so that you end up with a 1/2" expansion joint and a full strip piece along that wall.

My question is, since I am measuring from that long wall to snap my parallel chalkline, why can't I just start 1/2" away from that wall with a 1/2" spacer and begin laying the flooring up against it rather than 30" away and work back towards that wall?

I figure that way the strip flooring would be exactly parallel to the wall without any error measuring for the chalkline or movement in the first piece of strip flooring laid up against the chalkline.

Thank You in advance for your help.

the instructions I read on why to do that is so that you can then measure the distance from the wall across the way and make sure you come out square. It will be less noticeble if you have less then 30" that ends up not quite square then if you have many feet that is quite noticably unsquare.

(does that sound right???)
