I have ceramic tile in a tub/shower combination. The tile goes outside the tub itself and along the ceiling. I am going to put in a tub surround and leave part of the ceramic tile showing. My question is this -- are tub surrounds easy to put onto ceramic tile or should I hire out? I'm most concerned about removing and replacing the faucets and other hardware still in good shape and looks nice, including a towel rack in the shower and the soap dish.

None of my business, but why would you downgrade your home by putting a cheap fiberglass shower surround over ceramic tile?

What is wrong with the tile?
