I'm investigating different hardwood floors for a new home. Most have a polyurethane finish, some add an aluminum oxide finish - which seems to be the best option. One vendor is considerably less in price and uses 6 coats of a UV acryllic. Does anyone know anything about an acryllic finish? Pros or cons? There is no warranty on this flooring, as opposed to the 25 year warranties that are on the floors with aluminum oxide. Thanks!

Buy the best product you can afford to buy. There are many manufacturers and many price points and many different quality levels. Make sure you do your research before you make a purchase. Don't be caught up in the name brand wars. Many name brand manufacturers have many products available at different price points and different quality levels. Just because you bought a 'name' does not mean you bought the best product. If you can afford to purchase a product with a 25-year finish warranty, do so. Among the best finishes on the market are those that have a 6+ layer finish, top coated with aluminum oxide. When you make a post like this that invites opinions, you will get many. Examine the milling process, the finishing process, and the warranty.
