help!!!!! turned the air conditioner on the other day and it worked great....shut it off at night and then tried to turn it on the next day and nothing....electronic trermostat makes all the right clicking sounds but nothing happens...already checked the circuit breaker it was fine...but I always seem to have trouble every season getting either the air or the heat to run because of the thermostat(or so it seems.)

Sometimes a breaker looks OK and is actually OFF. Turn it OFF and push it firmly in the OFF direction (to **** a spring loaded mechanism). Then turn it ON. Do this 2 or 3 times before you give up on it (if necessary).

This is the most likely problem. Does the fan work in the FAN ON position? (It should). If it doesn't, the furnace or air handler breaker may be tripped OFF and that breaker would need to be reset. (Most systems have separate breakers.)
