I live in a 100 year old home, with the original plaster/lathe ceilings and walls still intact. I'd like to paper the ceiling in the living room with textured wallpaper, which will help hide/disguise some flaws.
I don't know how to get the wallpaper to stick to the ceiling long enough to (1) not tear and (2) stick at one end while I brush, align, the entire piece. It's too heavy to just stick on it's own and I don't always have a 2nd pair of hands available to help.
Is there a tool to purchase that can help support the paper until I can get the entire piece to stick (and not fall off once I get down from the ladder!!!)? :))
Or - does anyone have an alternative suggestion? (I don't want to stipple the ceiling - papering is the only real choice I have).
Thanks to anyone who can help me out!

kmb42, It is doubtful that anyone could hang a ceiling from only one ladder. What I always do even when I have help is run a walkboard between two ladders. I run the paper on the line and come back and smooth out. I hope this will work for you...Mike

kmb42,
Papering a ceiling by oneself is not easy. I did it once but it was a very small bathroom. I could stand on the toilet and reach the entire ceiling. Now to your problem. I have a solution but it will take time. You could buy different wallpaper and wallpaper borders and come out with a design. The wallpaper would be cut into pieces and pasted to the ceiling in small pieces and therefor would not fall down. This is a Victorian style of papering. It is beautiful but time consuming. It takes time to figure color, pattern, and placement but it is a gorgeous application when done. I plan to do this on my staircase ceiling. If you have never seen anything like this check "This old House" web site. I know I've seen this on one of the shows.
