We are installing a pool and need to run a gas line from the house to the pool heater (about 120 feet). I would like to use plastic pipe. The specs for the pool heater say it is 400k BTU and for that distance we would need 1 1/2" pipe. Is this plastic pipe readily available? Where could I buy it? When I went to Home Depot, they were at a loss. I thought it was just the black stuff that comes in large rolls. Thanks

Go to a plumbing and heating supply house, they will have what you need. What you want is definitely not a home depot item. Find out if you need an inspection done, by your local inspector or the gas company. 400k is an awful lot and you may have to have your gas meter change to handle the capacity. Most homes only have a 1" feed off the meter. Got a feeling that you may have to hire a plumber/permits/inspection.
You can also have the gas company change you over to a 2psi system. 1/2" I.D. pipe will carry over 500k @ 50ft. You would have to have regulators installed on all gas appliances, but it may be cheaper than the 1.5" gas pipe.
