I have an old house with pine floors.I have pulled up all the carpet and tar paper, which was quite a challenge.I would like to refinish the floors myself but I am not sure of my options or where to start.I have seen what a drum sander can do and I would rather not use one.Ihave been told the orbitting sanderswill leave swirls, and a few people suggested sandblasting.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.thanks

tanko; I think a call to a pro will be cheaper than Doing It Yourself. You really need skills with the tools of the trade and your comments about sanders and the false information about potential results with same lead me to this conclusion. Secondly; experience when you encounter the un-foreseen really does make a difference. To mess up your floor for a couple of hundred dollars is to mess up the huge investment that you have in your home; Check out what the pro would charge.... and if you don't like what he/she says you can still keep your hands in your pockets. I am a strong believer in the DIY movement on one hand, and I see serious problems when certain skills and experience are not honed to perfection.
