My compressor/condenser control breaker trips when there is a drop in voltage due to a near by storm. The system then blows hot air until I reset the breaker.

the more amps the unit draws. Thus the breaker realizes this and trips. It is also possible that a weak run or start capacitor may contribute to the problem.MAKE SURE with power off that ALL electrical connections are tight. To be correct and prevent damage to unit you should set tstat to off when low voltage occurs.PDF

This is PDF again.Yesterday I failed to mention that a "SOFT START" kit is available for low voltage problems. It wires directly across run capacitor. With power off at unit outside remove electrical panel.Look at wiring diagram. It might show dotted lines for start assist kit. Most of the times it is an option.Diagram might state "optional".Your run cap. will be a gray canister. If you already have a start cap. it will be a round in shape and will be black.PDF
