Just recently the baseboards in my home have statred making noises (you can hear the water traveling through them) whenever the heat kicks on. Is this normal? I have a Peerless 140,000 BTU oil fired furnace with two circulators for different zones. Should the system be flushed, if so, how do I go about doing so?

My last house had the same problem, I never did get it stopped. You can try bleeding the air, this would sometimes help.
Look for a "bleeder" on the unit that is furtherist from the furnace, open it and let the air out till hot water starts to come out. Do this when the pumps are running do both zones.
Good luck.

if your hear water running in your baseboard that means air has found its way into your system it sounds like you expansion tank has a hole in the bladder (assuming you have one and not a steel tank in the ceiling) also check your pressure a cold boiler should be around 12 psi and around 22 hot if its below 12 you have a bad feeder if its over 22 and getting close to 30 that may also indicate bad feeder and or a bad expansion tank that needs replaced or drained depending on your application
