I just recently bought a home built in 1908. It has a front
porch that runs the length of the house. The porch is in good shape. It has wood lattice around the foundation. We'd like to give it more support by putting cinder/concrete block underneath, paint the block the color of the lattice and than replace the lattice. My question is how do we put the block in so it won't shift or sink?

You will need to dig a trench and pour a concrete footing for the cinder blocks to keep them from sinking.
If the crawlspace under the porch isn't open behind it at the base of the house, you will need to install vents, also.
Good Luck!
