How much would it cost to put a Glueless Laminate flooring in a 11ft x 8ft bedroom and how much of the flooring would I require? The can you tell me who is to best and who is the cheapest please.

Ruth; 11' X 8' is 88 square feet. What about closets, entries, and is the room a plain square (rectangle) area? Your local flooring dealer can be most helpful in your thought process at arriving at a good decision for YOU. There is a choice of underlayment and will you want the floor installed or would you or a family member do the installation?

Ruth:

I can't help out with cost of a glueless laminate nor any brands, but Fred can. You'll have to be more specific on the size of the bedroom but from your measurement it's at 88 square feet(SF) and add 5% waste. Round it off to the higher figure and you have 93 SF. If the stuff is packaged at 20 SF per box you'll need five. Is there a closet?

Plus, you'll need the recommended underlayment and figure 100 SF there. If the room leads to a hallway you'll need an "end cap" there. Do you want matching quarter round? If that's the case I'll take a guess and say that 8'X11' area will need 36 lineal feet net, but figure 40'. They typically come in lengths of 72-78" so you'll need seven.

That's about all I can offer:)

Ruth,

I installed Armstrong Swift-Loc (snaps together, no glue) in two rooms of our home this past winter. It regularly sells for about $60 per box (Ken is right, you'll need five boxes) and probably only one roll of underlayment (another $8). It came with the directions for installation which I found very easy to follow. You will also need an installation kit (antoher $20) to help make the joints very tight. We bought ours at Lowe's and got them to come down on the cost of the flooring some, but you are looking at $300-350 for your bedroom, not including any closet that you may have.
