We just installed a pedastal sink. The sink portion of it just sits atop the pedastal. It worries us that someone might hit it and knock it off. A worse scenaero is that it falls and breaks plus breaks the new ceramic tile we just installed on the floor! Any ideas? Thanks

The water supply lines, if solid, and/or the drain pipe connections, especially, should keep it from being knocked off the pedastal.
If you want to just feel better about it, you could use spot epoxy glue, and glue it (out of sight) to the base.
However, I don't think that that is necessary.
Good Luck!

I have only installed one myself. I too was a little puzzled that the sink appeared that it was only going to be held by the pedastal. I checked out another one that was already installed and saw it had brackets on it. I then dumped out the box to find two wall mount brackets hidden away under all the foam packing.

I have always securely fastened pedestal sinks to the wall with a combination of mounting hardware and adhesives. If you look up under the sink, there should be a hole or a slot on each side. Some use brackets as Stephen noted. If yours doesn't have brackets, then use wood screws (with washers) if the holes align with framing members OR use drywall anchors if your screws won't catch anything except drywall. I then use construction adhesive between the wall and the back of the sink just prior to tightening the screws. DON'T OVERTIGHTEN THE SCREWS...Just handtighten.
I then silicone the basin to the pedestal and the pedestal to the floor.
