I just purchased an older home and want to wallpaper my kids room. The walls are plaster and have been painted. I want to know if I need to do anything to the walls? Second question: I am trying to figure out how to use two different wallpapers on the walls. I want to use a baseball theme, pinstrips on bottom and a solid on top with a border in the middle. Not sure if I use the lighter color on bottom and a darker on top - Help!!!

If the walls have been painted then they have been sealed and apart from rubbing them down properly you should have to do no more.
If however the paint has come away in places, exposing the dry plaster or you believe the walls to be porous, then it is a good idea to apply a coat of size or thin wallpaper paste and allow to dry before hanging new paper.
Usually the darker colour goes on the bottom but that is`nt a rule thats set in stone!!.......Best of luck!!
