Decks, Patios, Porches and Docks - Ground a deck

Hi hope I can get some help! The walkway that goes into my house is can I say Sunk in, like when we park our cars, we have to walk down 3 steps to get to the level where our door is, and as we walk around the walkway it is very narrow, I wanted to build a walkway along the walkway we have now, and then right before the door as I round the corner put the three steps there! My only problem is, how would they support the Boardwalk looking walkway if the walkway that is there, that this new walkwas would be over top of, how would they ground it if, the walkway is cement? Please help!...We do have blocks on the right side and the house on the left, this is what closes you in.
