hollow door has 3 inch diameter hole. want to patch this before painting. maintenance guy will do repair-- I want to make sure he does it correctly! What is the method? Thanks.

Jay,
Here's how I did it. Stuffed wrinkled newspaper into cavity. Then glued small piece of plwood(luan) to inside of door panel. Pressure from paper within held luan piece in place until glue dried. Then patch 1/4 depression with spackle, sand, paint.
