patch bathroom ceiling-- after water leak. bldg maintenance guy put up patch 18" square. used 4 screws but were not placed at perimeter of patch (patch perimeter not at ceiling joists). joist screws are about 4 inches or more from patch perimeter. he did not cut the existing ceiling board at joist--patch meets between joists. (existing ceiling trimmed to meet patch about 12 inches from closest joist screws). finished 3 sides of patch with tape but did not tape the edge where patch meets vertical wall. the 'ceiling to wall' edge looks bad--is not a straight level line with the rest of existing 'ceiling to wall' edge...it is off by 3/8 inch at one point although the edge is continuous.... it looks bad--it meanders from straight. was his error in failing to cut the patch to meet existing ceiling on the joist? any fix other than doing over? looks bad. please post your thoughts. thanks.
