I am trying to paint my door frames with the cracked look. I have bought a kit that uses the spray paint to get this look. Is there any way to use regular paint to get this look? I want to be able to get the colors I want.

The general principle works like this:
A slow drying medium such as varnish or oil based gloss as a base (wait untill tacky) Then paint on your water based emulsion/topcoat. To speed up cracks...just use a hair dryer... Obviously you can use what colours you like!!

Another option is to paint your base coat whatever color you want it to be, then use a "crackling medium" ( Can be purchased in the craft or the paint section of most stores) wait 2-3 hours then paint the top coat on, as it dries the topcoat will crackle showing the base coat. ( Use flat paint for a top coat).
