I would like to remove wallpaper in my kitchen, which has been on the wall for at least 9 years. It is located in a very bad spot, right above the kitchen sink, and has been splattered by water, etc. In some spots where I have tried to clean it off, it is actually scrubbed off the wall. It is attached (very securely) to sheetrock. How can I get this off and do minimal damage to the sheetrock? Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

The easiest way I have found to remove wallpaper is to score it and then spray a mixture of hot water and a capful of good quality fabric softener in a standard spray bottle over the area that you want to remove. This does no damage to the wall underneath the paper and it just glides right off!
