My fireplace looks like it's waiting for Dean Martin to stroll up. It's made out of large (18" or so) sandstone or quarry type rocks. They may be artificial. Can I just plaster over the whole thing? What about painting? Any suggestions would be welcomed.
some help

Hello
are you talking about the outside or inside of the house? 18" is big for the inside....if it is the outside yes you can plaster it OK but it could crack..so I would firt lath over it and then do a three coat plaster system..scratch coat, brown coat and finish coat...paint it any color you like......Good Luck....
