Hello Pug,
I think you're asking how to remove one finish without affecting the finish under? I don't have an answer for that one, I don't know of a product that selective. Maybe one of the other pros here can help.

If it were latex paint on oil, lacquer or polyurethane you could use a product called Goof-Off, it removes latex without harming oil based, but I know the kilz at least is oil based so you could try it on the paint if it is latex. If the kilz is not too old you may try paint thinner on a rag, using a finger with a piece of the rag wrapped around to isolate the area scrubbed. The kilz may have to be lightly sanded off with a 220 grit sandpaper, being very careful to stop when the kilz is removed and not go into the wood, use light strokes and again isolate the sanding to just the kilz to be removed.
Be aware when you try this you may have some touching up on the clearcoat on the wood, be carefull not to penetrate the actual stain in the wood, it is much harder to touch up.

Yes while painting the ceiling and walls my taping was'nt the best and have several spots where the paint got onto the stained cupboard and trim wood work. Thanks for taking the time to answer. Pug
