Our bathroom is "cozy" meaning small. There are tiles half way up the wall, a tiny window--no natural light located inside the shower/bath.
We just painted the ceiling flat white and painted the rest of the walls a flat pale yellow. Now it's too yellow and instead of looking pale yellow, it looks like a bright lemon. You practically have to squint when you are in there not to mention that everyone looks like they have jaundice when they look at their reflection in the mirror.
This is our first paint project and I only referred to this site after the fact. We are looking for ideas to make the yellow, uh.. less "dramatic."
Any takers?

I hope you used oil paint, other wise you will get peeling because of the moisture. If you did, this will help tone down your yellow.
To tone down loud paper or oil based paint try this formula:
-glass jar
-3oz glazing liquid (doesn't have to be exact)
-1Tbsp of linseed oil (about)
-2Tbsp of paint thinner (about)
-3oz oil paint (I suggest white to tone down color)
-stir to blend
This creates an opaque glaze so you will beable to still see the color you already have but toned down. A creamy appearance. The liquid should be like cream (thickness). Apply this someplace where you can check the results before doing the whole room. If its not toned down enough add more paint (a little at a time), test again. Repeat till you are happy with results. Using a brush to apply (don't be sparing or be afraid of drips). Do small sections at a time. Then with a roller go back over it, be sure to roll evenly so you don't leave lines behind. The roller will also give your wall a slight texture.
