Hi,

I just removed some steps from the back of my house and there is a section of the foundation where the cinder blocks were not skimmed over with a layer of cement. I have two questions.

1) What type of cement should I use ?
2) Do a skim more than one layer ?

Thanks,

Warren

This should do: Dampen the surface (not dripping wet. Water sheen should not be apparent). To 1 gallon of water add 4 ounces of CPA (concrete and plaster adhesive) OR plain white glue. Mix 1 part Plastic Cement plus 1 masonry sand to a paintable slurry. Mix 1 part Plastic Cement to 3 parts sand. With a masons fiber brush paint the surface with the first mixture. Directly afterward apply the second mixture about 3/8" thick. Wait 10 to 15 minutes then scratch horizontally with a scratcher OR nails driven through a board. The next day mix 1 part Plastic Cement to 4 parts masonry sand. Dampen the surface, apply and smooth the mixture.
